Our Story: My name is Lucy He, and I am a high school student in Southern California. Growing up as a daughter of two immigrants, my parents always tell me stories about the poor education systems they experienced in the villages of Hunan, China. The primary struggle among these children was that availability for required school supplies was scarce and widely unaffordable. As a result, the majority of children within these villages received no education, and those who did could only afford up to middle school. However, it never occurred to me the quantity of young children near me, in the US, who suffer from nearly the exact same conditions as my family did. Through this initiative, I want to show children that they can be successful regardless of their demographic background by aiding in monetary setbacks- I firmly believe education is a human right, and money should never prevent anyone's education.
Our Organization: Established in 2023, Youth for Our People is a non-profit organization seeking to put an end to educational poverty in local communities. Based in the Greater Los Angeles Area, we also have locations in Tampa, Florida and Birmingham, Alabama. Our organization provides backpacks filled with various essential school supplies to young children in low-resource communities across the US. All products are cruelty-free and tested for child safety.

Each individual shipment carries high quality, filled backpacks to 48 young students in need. All shipments are hand-packaged and scanned for child safety hazards by Lucy and the team!
Each backpack is filled with the following: 1 spiral notebook, 1 two-pocket folder, 1 canvas pencil case, 3 #2 pencils, 3 ballpoint ink pens (2 black, 1 blue), 5 crayons in assorted colors, 1 highlighter, 1 ruler, 1 glue stick, 1 pencil sharpener, and 2 erasers.
